Hexagon table

Burl elm from Copenhagen

This table was designed for an exhibition project in collaboration with Tasmanian crafts people called "4 squared".

The table is made out of burl Elm wood from a famous square in the central Copenhagen. in 1997 there was an Elm disease in Denmark and the big Elm trees on the square died. I had one of the large burls cut into slabs and cured them for 10 years.

The slabs were arranged into a hexagon, in the center of which I placed a Granite plate. This granite is from the Danish Island of Bornholm.
